Our corporate history
1969
Company foundation by Franz-Josef and Christel Meurer;
design and building of modular systems and individual parts for a well-known German printing press manufacturer.
Meurer also start to produce shrink film wrapping machines.
1970
With the establishment of a manufacturing plant of 2.500 m², the basis for an own production programme was started.
1972
The first fully automatic wrapping machines for shrink and stretch film were developed and released.
1975
A first-time presence at the Interpack exhibition; presentation of the new and improved film packaging machines.
1981
Introduction of an electronics module system.
1982
Expansion of the production and management facility by the acquisition of further space and buildings; extension of the meurer manufacturing program to include case packaging machines.
1983
Introduction of programmable memory controls.
1989
Palletising equipment was introduced within the product range.
1992
Freren: acquisition of a production hall with administration department.
1994
Establishment of a new administration department and enlargement of the production area.
1996
Certification according to EN ISO 9001: introduction of the touch panels and bus systems.
1998
Extension of the conveying technology to include buffer systems.
1999
Development of a high-speed sleeve wrapper (one and two lanes) with up to 140 packs/min. (type CM/HB-B).
2000
Came the Introduction of the multi-axis servo systems: Development of the film-wrapping machine to include Lateral folding. Type CM / VE 40-B.
2003
Introduction of the standard control concept, consisting of motion/machine control/ communication and visualisation platform; development of a second-generation, continuous-motion case packing machine (type CM / HTW).
2007
Following the death of Franz-Josef Meurer his wife Christel Meurer becomes the managing partner and takes over the management of the entire meurer group. Ludger Richter and Walter Schmidt become executive directors.
2008
Enlargement of the production and shipping hall in Fürstenau by approximately 1500 sqare metres.
Development of a high-speed horizontal flow wrapping machine, featuring a performance of 160 packs/min.
2009
Anniversary: 40 years of meurer
2010
Presentation of the new FILMline sleeve wrapper generation
2012
Expansion of the production site Freren within the range logistics
2013
100% of the company share is sold to the US American ITW Group.
2015
Jens Gozian takes over the management task from Ludger Richter and Walter Schmidt.
